visual distractions is a visual effects studio located in Hamburg, Germany.

Founded in 2006, the company comprises visual effects artists with extensive experience in feature films and commercials for the German as well as the international market.

 

visual distractions specializes in producing high-end visual effects, be it digital or in-camera. We also have the capacity to see a project through: from concept to final picture. Milo for TKL and Fuji spot released

We´re on a Milo streak and loving it! We just operated the motion control system for a fellow Hamburg company TKL on two recent commercials we are sworn to secrecy on. But we can finally show you another spot we have been working on: the Fuji FinePix 3d stereoscopic cinema commercial for international release! We not only did vfx on this one but also took on the whole vfx supervision.

Motion Control jobs across Europe for MRMC

It's been a busy few months for Julian Hermannsen working on several shoots as Motion Control Operator for Mark Roberts Motion Control on films such as The Chronicles of Narnia and John Carter of Mars. He operated the Milo and Talos on several fx shots on both features as well as the Animoko on a stop-motion ad spot for Volvo produced in Sweden.

Rolex commercial shoot

We just finished principal photography and 3d shots for a Rolex commercial for ZAG!media. We used a combination of techniques to bring out the best of our lead – and only – actor, a Rolex classic, the Oyster: from motion control camera moves to stop motion animation and 3d. We shot the commercial completely in-house in our studios with the Kuper motion control system. See more here.

VFX on Germany's first stop motion feature

The Sandman and the Lost Sand of Dreams
In addition to 3d and compositing services for the live action bookends of this stop-motion feature produced by scopas medien AG, we also did R&D for the main 3d cgi fx in the film and provided one of the motion control rigs (Kuper system) during principal photography. Julian Hermannsen was also the Visual Effects and Motion Control Supervisor on the film.
